Black Market Liquor Bar is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.
For 15 years, Black Market has been a cornerstone of the Studio City and Los Angeles dining scene. It’s a place where the neighborhood regulars, industry folks, and first-time guests all sit side by side and trust us to deliver the same high-quality execution every time. Our kitchen, led by Chef Antonia Lofaso, focuses on seasonal cooking that’s thoughtful but approachable, paired with one of the strongest cocktail programs in the Valley.
This position works directly with ownership and our Sous Chef to help lead daily kitchen operations, maintain quality standards, and support the development of our team.
This role is ideal for a strong line cook or kitchen lead ready to step into a management position.
Responsibilities
- Support the Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations
- Lead the line during service when needed
- Assist with ordering, inventory, and product organization
- Maintain consistency in food quality, prep, and plating
- Train and mentor line cooks and prep cooks
- Uphold sanitation, safety, and organization standards
- Assist with specials and menu execution
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong fundamentals, knife skills, and sense of urgency
- Leadership experience preferred (lead line cook, kitchen lead, etc.)
- Ability to stay organized and calm under pressure
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented
Compensation
- Starting salary $70,500 depending on experience
- Full-time position
