A well-established private restaurant in New York City is seeking an experienced Floor Manager to join its leadership team. This role is responsible for supporting daily front-of-house operations, ensuring a high level of hospitality, and maintaining a seamless dining experience for guests.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a passion for hospitality, excellent communication skills, and experience managing teams in a fast-paced full-service restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management team with front-of-house operations and service execution
- Assist with weekly scheduling, staffing levels, and labor optimization
- Train and onboard front-of-house team members on service standards and hospitality expectations
- Ensure smooth coordination between the host stand, dining room, bar, and kitchen
- Maintain high standards of guest service and overall dining room experience
- Floor manage multiple shifts per week and support service during peak hours
- Ensure compliance with NYC health, safety, and labor regulations
- Participate in coaching, training, and performance development of team members
- Attend management meetings and collaborate with leadership on operational improvements
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of leadership experience in a full-service restaurant
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations and front-of-house service standards
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling tools, and general restaurant technology
- Knowledge of labor law compliance and restaurant operational standards
- Passion for hospitality, food, and beverage
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
- NYC Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with extensive or high-level wine programs, including familiarity with wine service and guest guidance on selections
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work in a restaurant environment with varying temperatures
