Position Overview
We are seeking a Food Runner / Busser to join our front-of-house team. This role is essential to
maintaining the flow, precision, and polish of our dining room.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of New York restaurant experience in a fine
dining or high-volume environment and understands that hospitality extends beyond direct
service — it is reflected in timing, cleanliness, awareness, and teamwork.
We are adding two brunch shifts (Saturday and Sunday). There may be opportunity for additional
dinner shifts seasonally based on performance and business needs.
Weekend and holiday availability is required.
Key Responsibilities
Confidently and safely run food using a tray, ensuring accuracy and proper table delivery
Assist servers in firing and pacing tables to support smooth service flow
Bus and reset tables efficiently while maintaining dining room standards
Maintain clean, organized side stations at all times
Polish silverware, glassware, and ensure service ware meets presentation standards
Refill and maintain water bottles and water service throughout the dining room
Assist in greeting and supporting tables when needed
Maintain awareness of the dining room to anticipate guest and team needs
Support opening and closing side work as assigned
Follow all NYC Department of Health (DOH) guidelines
Hospitality & Team Expectations
Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during high-volume service
Be proactive, detail-oriented, and attentive to the needs of guests and team
Communicate clearly and respectfully with managers, servers, and kitchen staff
Arrive punctual, polished, and prepared for service
Take direction well and remain open to feedback
Uphold Sawa’s standards of warmth, hospitality, and excellence at all times
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of NYC restaurant experience
Experience in fine dining or high-volume environments preferred
Ability to carry and balance a tray confidently
Strong work ethic and sense of urgency
Highly organized with strong attention to cleanliness and detail
Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude
