Job Details

Round Pond Estate is a family-owned Napa Valley winery producing acclaimed wines, artisan olive oils, and vinegars. Rooted in hospitality, craftsmanship, and stewardship of the land, we are dedicated to creating world-class experiences that connect people to the essence of Napa Valley.

We’re looking for a warm, engaging, and quality- and team-focused Cook to join our winery kitchen!

We currently have two opportunities: one for an entry-level Prep / Line Cook and one for a more seasoned Line Cook.

Both roles offer the chance to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where seasonal, wine-inspired cuisine is at the heart of every dish. Ideal candidates are reliable, passionate about hospitality, and committed to high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and organization. Essential requirements include respect for food safety and sanitation standards, flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and special winery events, and a willingness to learn and grow with our team. If you take pride in creating memorable experiences and building strong teams, we would love to meet you.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, assemble dishes, and execute recipes according to winery standards.
  • Follow recipes, portions, and presentation specifications as directed by the Chef.
  • Set up and maintain assigned stations, including restocking items throughout the shift.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, with proper knowledge of station tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of workstations, kitchen tools, equipment, walk-in coolers, and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and handling of ingredients to maintain freshness and safety.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to support smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Assist in plating and garnishing dishes to ensure high-quality presentation and guest experience.
  • Adapt to changing menu items, special events, and busy service periods with professionalism.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.

Requirements

  • Reliability and strong work ethic.
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and special winery events.
  • Passion for hospitality, local ingredients, and delivering memorable guest experiences.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow with the team.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Shared Requirements (Both Prep / Line Cook & Line Cook)

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a kitchen position at a restaurant, tasting room, or hospitality destination; experience may include appetizers, grilling, sauté, fromage, desserts, or pastries.
  • Awareness of California and federal health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling practices.
  • Serve Safe Certification required.
  • Understanding of proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, slicers, and knives; demonstrates commitment to safety and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay calm under pressure, and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Must be a team player, flexible, positive, and willing to “go the extra mile.”
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Required to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Acts in a manner that reflects the company culture and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Strong interest and passion for developing expertise in wine and food, including food and wine pairings.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor that positively reflects on the company.

Additional Qualifications for More Seasoned Line Cook

  • Extensive culinary experience across multiple kitchen stations, including prep, sauté, grill, and plating.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and adapting to situations with limited standardization.
  • Previous experience in a winery or high-volume hospitality destination preferred.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage timing and flow during high-volume service periods.
  • Strong knowledge of plating techniques, and presentation standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to taste, smell, hear, and talk effectively.
  • Frequent lifting and moving items up to 40 pounds.
  • Standing and walking on hard surfaces for extended period of time.
  • Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling and moving quickly.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and occasionally holidays.

Perks & Compensation:

  • Tips, and events service charge, if applicable
  • Savings on premium wines & estate products & culinary experiences
  • Continued wine education & development
  • A collaborative, inclusive team culture
