About Tacos 1986
Tacos 1986 is a Tijuana Style Taqueria that makes the most delicious tacos in California. Based in Los Angeles with 8 operating locations across the city, it serves communities with one the most authentic bites in LA and has made its debut to NYC!
The Role
Being part of the prep team at Tacos 1986 means being a pivotal member of the business. The success of the restaurant relies heavily on the prep team’s ability to show up every day and execute food preparation to the highest standard.
Consistency, attention to detail, and accountability are essential. An overall awareness of the kitchen environment — including cleanliness, organization, and teamwork — is paramount. Every prep team member is expected to work cleanly, efficiently, and in an organized manner to ensure smooth service and uphold the quality our guests expect.
The prep team sets the foundation for the entire operation. When prep is done right, everything else can run seamlessly.
Responsibilities:
- - Attendance and timeliness
- - Keeping equipment clean and in excellent working condition
- - Maintaining a positive, work environment via effective, professional communication with other employees and managers
Requirements:
- - Experience working in a professional kitchen in NYC
- - Knife skills and general knowledge of cooking techniques
- - Friendly, outgoing, energetic team player with a positive attitude
- - Ability to think quickly and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- - Ability to communicate effectively
- - Ability to take direction and execute
- - Must work days and/or weekends.
- - Culinary certificate or degree a plus.
- - Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours and lift up to 40 pounds
- - Must be able to arrive on time and work a full shift, including station breakdown
