Position Summary
We are seeking a service‑driven, guest‑focused Assistant General Manager to help lead daily operations and ensure every visitor feels welcomed, valued, and cared for. This role partners closely with the General Manager to uphold brand standards, coach and support the front-of-house team, and maintain an environment that reflects the excellence of the Top of the Rock experience.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, guest-centric environments, leads by example, and is passionate about cultivating exceptional service moments through thoughtful, consistent hospitality. Candidates with experience in Guest Relations or Maitre D' positions are preferred.
What You’ll Do Guest Relations & Service Excellence
- Serve as an on-floor leader and ambassador of The Weather Room experience.
- Ensure guests feel welcomed, supported, and delighted throughout their visit.
- Respond to escalated concerns with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
- Observe service flow and coach staff to uphold warmth, speed, and consistency.
- Maintain brand standards across hospitality, tone, cleanliness, and atmosphere.
- Build relationships with frequent guests and key partners to foster loyalty.
Service Quality Monitoring
- Evaluate service touchpoints and guest experience against brand standards.
- Audit cleanliness, presentation, uniform compliance, and guest-facing details.
- Partner with the GM to refine service standards and training materials.
- Track guest feedback and implement service improvements.
Daily Operations
- Support the GM in managing daily operations across all shifts.
- Ensure proper setup, maintenance, and breakdown of service areas.
- Partner with the kitchen and bar to maintain strong communication and flow.
- Monitor inventory levels and product availability.
- Troubleshoot real-time operational challenges to protect the guest experience.
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and performance feedback.
- Support onboarding and continuous training for front-of-house team members.
- Lead engaging daily pre-shift meetings focused on priorities and service expectations.
- Foster a culture rooted in collaboration, empathy, respect, and accountability.
- Model composure, warmth, and professionalism during all service periods.
Financial & Administrative Support
- Assist with monitoring labor, supplies, and operational efficiencies.
- Support scheduling, reporting, and adherence to operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of hospitality leadership experience, ideally in high‑volume or premium settings.
- Experience in Maitre D’, guest relations, or hosting roles preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and elevate frontline teams.
- Excellent communication, organization, and floor-management abilities.
- Experience with POS, scheduling, and reporting tools.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- NY Food Handlers Certificate (required within 60 days).
- TIPS Certification preferred.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. The Weather Room is open 365 days per year.
Essential Functions & Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Stand/walk for up to 10 hours.
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Navigate elevators, high-altitude spaces, and tight areas.
- Work in varying temperature environments with exposure to common allergens.
- Occasionally travel to vendor or company locations.
