Job Details

Position TitleCook I - III                     

 Reports to:  Culinary Management                                    

 Position Summary: Prepares food items required for daily meal service.

 Essential Functions:

  • Cooks and prepares all food necessary for the day’s need and production under the supervision of a cook 2/1.
  • Collects all food products needed to set-up assigned station under the supervision of a cook 2/1.
  • Operates all food production equipment safely and according to instructions.
  • Follows all food production standards and recipes for required items.
  • Ensures proper timing and preparation of all foods as required for daily needs as communicated by Skilled Cook.
  • Assist in plating up of all foods for service.
  • Returns all soiled utensils and equipment to proper areas.
  • Ensures all standards for sanitation are met and adhered.
  • Assist and ensures all products are being properly rotated, wrapped, labeled and dated.
  • Reports any needed equipment repairs to supervisor or culinary management.
  • Notify supervisor and/or Culinary Management of any product needs or shortages so that actual product can be supplied.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by employer.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: Culinary School Graduate (1-3 years after graduating) or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Experience: Minimum 3 year professional experience and culinary background in a private club, hotel, restaurant or resort environment. Must have experience in the different types of stations in the kitchen.

Additional Skills: Must be able to work independently as well as part of team, must have good communication and organization skills, able to comprehend and follow complex instructions/recipes, the physical demands for this position require the person to stand for long periods of time, lift a minimum of 25lbs and up to 50lbs, perform lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping motions.


Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($24.83 - $27.00)

Established in 1879 to uphold the sacred obligations of citizenship, to promote honesty and efficiency in government, and to support cultural institutions and the beautification of the city, the Club has been a contributing partner in the growth and development of Chicago. Through the efforts of its membership, the Club is a catalyst for action in the political, economic and social arenas—focusing its leadership and resources on important social issues.

This commitment to community is seen in many ways. As early as 1893, Chicago gained recognition as a world-class city when it hosted the World Columbian Exposition. Club members were instrumental in having Chicago named as the site for the Exposition by the United States Congress. In the 1990s, the Club celebrated its role in the opening of the Harold Washington Library Center—the largest circulating library in the world and the largest municipal building in North America.

In addition to our Club's motto, "commitment to country and community," our 24-story clubhouse provides a haven for its members and their guests. Located in the heart of Chicago's downtown financial district, the clubhouse is composed of guestrooms and suites, conference rooms, ballrooms, formal and informal dining rooms and lounges, a library, state-of-the-art health and fitness center, and a swimming pool. The Club has also amassed one of the nation's largest privately held art collections.

Special activities and exclusive cultural events are planned for members to meet, socialize and be entertained, enriched and informed. Theater outings, chamber music concerts and travel opportunities are just some of the activities members enjoy.
