About Mariela

Position Overview

Mariela is seeking a Sous Chef who thrives in a dynamic kitchen environment and values both creativity and precision. The role supports the Chef team in day-to-day operations, menu development, and leading a motivated culinary crew. This position is ideal for a chef who embraces culture-driven flavors, organization, and mentorship as key parts of the craft.

Responsibilities
  • Support and lead kitchen operations to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high product standards.

  • Collaborate with the Chef team to conceptualize, test, and execute dishes that showcase Mariela's globally inspired coastal style.

  • Train, coach, and inspire line cooks and culinary interns, maintaining an atmosphere of respect, growth, and professionalism.

  • Oversee prep systems, production schedules, and ingredient quality control.

  • Manage inventory, ordering, and cost monitoring with an eye toward sustainability and waste reduction.

  • Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation protocols are strictly followed.

  • Communicate clearly between the kitchen and front-of-house to deliver a seamless guest experience.

  • Assume leadership during service and in the absence of senior chefs to maintain continuity and standards.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Sous Chef or Chef de Partie in a kitchen.

  • Strong knowledge of flavor balance and technique across multicultural cuisines.

  • Passion for team leadership, teaching, and day-to-day operations management.

  • Culinary degree or comparable professional experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated with a collaborative, forward-thinking approach.

Continuing to navigate guests dining experience, the beverage program, spearheaded by David Mor (Mirra, TRUCE, Lilac Tiger), will offer a drink menus to match. The lists will consist of both classic and unexpected offerings, highlighting cocktails, coastal wine regions, creative NA drinks and an elevated coffee program.
