Job Overview

Position Summary

Servers guide our guests, demonstrating thorough knowledge of the food, beverages, ingredients and general preparation of items on our menu. Servers exhibit great communication skills and a pleasant friendly attitude at all times.

Servers take orders efficiently and accurately, maintain a neat and orderly environment, and ensure that guests have an unforgettable experience. First and foremost, a Server's job is to be present for their co-workers and to work together to make the guest experience the highest priority.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accurately take guests' orders and input into POS system while maintaining correct transaction records
  • Comply with Company and Department of Health established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques and safety protocols
  • Comply with Company safety plan and standards as set forth in training materials
  • Effectively communicate guest needs with FOH/BOH and management team
  • Ensure compliance with all State and local alcohol ordinances and the implementation of those ordinances
  • Interact with guests with positivity and composure in all circumstances
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of every item on the menu and answer guest questions with clarity and confidence, providing recommendations upon request
  • Provide friendly, gracious, motivated, detail oriented, and responsive service to create a memorable dining experience for guests
  • Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy
  • Serve tables as directed by management and in compliance with Company training
  • Work in collaboration with staff to ensure food and beverage is received by guests in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to perform essential job functions when working in a high business volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods of time as required to perform essential job functions
  • Able to lift 30+ lbs.
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • Be of legal age to serve alcohol
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • General knowledge of industry safety standards and procedures
  • Polished personal presentation; grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • State applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card
  • Willingness to work in outdoor climate conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Employee must be able to continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe with the potential for slipping or tripping. With its elegant vintage atmosphere featuring walnut booths, vintage Art Deco sconces, and rope-wrapped columns that transport guests to "a yacht club a century ago or more," the venue serves as the de facto clubhouse for Crew's acclaimed fleet of historic vessels, including America's oldest yacht, Coronet (1885); the National Historic Landmark, Victory Chimes (1900); and New York's last surviving Oyster Barge, Margaret (ca 1830).
