About Us
Glen Ellen Star is a wood-fire-driven restaurant in the heart of Sonoma Valley, known for bold, seasonal cooking, a lively dining room, and a strong hospitality culture. Michelin Bib Gourmand rated since for 12 straight years. Our menu and vibe center around the wood fire, thoughtful sourcing, and a guest experience that feels both elevated and genuinely warm. We’re looking for a confident, hands-on General Manager to lead the front of house and run daily operations at a high level.
The Role
This GM role is the operational leader of the restaurant and a key partner to ownership and the kitchen team. You’ll own the day-to-day, coach and develop the team, and ensure every service runs with precision and care. You’ll also oversee the beverage program and help drive standards, consistency, and profitability.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily restaurant operations with a service-first mindset
- Drive strong hospitality standards: guest experience, floor leadership, and issue resolution
- Build and manage schedules for FOH (and support BOH coordination as needed)
- Hire, train, coach, and retain a high-performing team
- Run pre-shifts, set service priorities, and hold teams accountable to standards
- Oversee the beverage program: ordering, inventory, pricing, menu upkeep, and team education
- Manage reservations and floor flow to maximize the room while protecting the guest experience
- Maintain operational excellence: opening/closing procedures, cleanliness, safety, and compliance
- Track key metrics (labor, COGS, comps/voids, sales) and implement improvements
- Partner with ownership on systems, culture, and long-term growth
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years as a GM in a busy, quality-focused restaurant
- Skilled floor presence: calm, commanding, and guest-forward during peak service
- Strong scheduling and labor management instincts
- Proven training and team development ability
- Beverage knowledge and enthusiasm (wine/beer/cocktails) with inventory and costing competence. Focus in local Sonoma/Napa wines preferred.
- Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented; you finish what you start
- Positive leadership style that builds culture and accountability
- Comfortable in a hands-on role: you’re on the floor, not in the office
Compensation & Benefits
- $90,000 base salary
- $5,000 bonus opportunity
- Full health benefits paid by the company ($500 equivalent)
- 2 weeks paid time off (PTO)
- Consistent set schedule: Wednesday–Sunday, 1:00pm–Close
