Pastry Cook / Executive Ding

Position Overview:
The Pastry Cook is responsible for supporting the Pastry Chef in the production and service of a variety of pastry items and breads for all the outlets. We are seeking a passionate and creative individual with great attention to detail, a wide range of pastry skills, and a willingness to learn and grow. This is a great opportunity to join our team as we continue to launch our new new headquarters at 270 Park Avenue. This is a challenging position that encompassing all aspects of the pastry craft, while maintaining an excellent work-life balance. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teamwork and Organization:
    • Respectfully work within a diverse team environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
    • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, following recipes and preparing foods accordingly.
  • Ensure all products and prepared items are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated following FIFO (first in, first out).
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
    • Follow directions and perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
  • Pastry Production:
    • Prepare a wide variety of pastry items and bread by following traditional and modern recipes.
    • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of recipes, ingredients, allergens, and presentation.
    • The ability to collaborate & create pastry menu items while given guidance and constructive criticism.
    • Ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment.
    • Assist with inventory rotation and maintenance.
  • Safety and Sanitation:
    • Demonstrates and upholds the highest standards of JPMC food quality and safety.
    • Strictly adhere to NYC Sanitation Code policies.
    • Check the quality of materials and the condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Company Policies:
    • Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including being ready to work at scheduled shifts, in uniform, as per uniform standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully, meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and move about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  • Frequent movements from place to place within the property, including bending, lifting, carrying, reaching/extending arms and hands above shoulder height and climbing stairs.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3 years previous experience in a professional kitchen preferred.
  • Proficient use of cutlery in a safe and swift manner.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Flexible availability, with the ability to work more than 10 hours if needed.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($25.00 - $27.00)
