Pastry Cook / Executive Ding
Position Overview:
The Pastry Cook is responsible for supporting the Pastry Chef in the production and service of a variety of pastry items and breads for all the outlets. We are seeking a passionate and creative individual with great attention to detail, a wide range of pastry skills, and a willingness to learn and grow. This is a great opportunity to join our team as we continue to launch our new new headquarters at 270 Park Avenue. This is a challenging position that encompassing all aspects of the pastry craft, while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teamwork and Organization:
- Respectfully work within a diverse team environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, following recipes and preparing foods accordingly.
- Ensure all products and prepared items are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated following FIFO (first in, first out).
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Follow directions and perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Pastry Production:
- Prepare a wide variety of pastry items and bread by following traditional and modern recipes.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of recipes, ingredients, allergens, and presentation.
- The ability to collaborate & create pastry menu items while given guidance and constructive criticism.
- Ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment.
- Assist with inventory rotation and maintenance.
- Safety and Sanitation:
- Demonstrates and upholds the highest standards of JPMC food quality and safety.
- Strictly adhere to NYC Sanitation Code policies.
- Check the quality of materials and the condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
- Company Policies:
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including being ready to work at scheduled shifts, in uniform, as per uniform standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully, meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and move about on foot to accomplish tasks.
- Frequent movements from place to place within the property, including bending, lifting, carrying, reaching/extending arms and hands above shoulder height and climbing stairs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 years previous experience in a professional kitchen preferred.
- Proficient use of cutlery in a safe and swift manner.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Flexible availability, with the ability to work more than 10 hours if needed.
