For 25 years, Clementine has built a business that is both demanding and humane —
grounded in high standards, disciplined financial management, deep connection to our
community, and a team that genuinely cares about one another.
We operate across retail and catering, with meaningful day-to-day variability. Behind
our welcoming atmosphere is a multi-stream operation that runs on thoughtful
structure and steady leadership.
We are looking for a General Manager who wants to own that structure — and
strengthen it.
The Role
The General Manager owns day-to-day operations across all departments, with full
accountability for weekly financial performance. This means translating projected sales
into disciplined labor and staffing decisions, interpreting results week to week, and
leading a tenured team of department managers - kitchen, catering and front-of-house - with clarity and care.
The GM operates independently. The founder remains involved in long-term strategy
and brand direction. Clear communication and mutual respect are essential.
This is a daytime business. The GM’s schedule includes weekend availability, but the
nature of a bakery-café means no late nights.
You will:• Lead our weekly operational rhythm and own the numbers behind it
• Align labor scheduling with sales variability — before problems arise, not after
• Coach and develop department managers, not just oversee them
• Identify patterns early and make considered adjustments
• Strengthen operational structure without flattening the culture that built this
business
What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who thinks in systems and reads a P&L the way other
people read a menu. Someone who is comfortable with variability, honest about what
the numbers are saying, and steady enough to lead without requiring daily structural
support.
Specifically, we’re looking for someone who:
• Has managed labor and sales in a variable-revenue food service business
• Understands margin discipline without defaulting to rigid policy
• Brings a clear operational point of view and can articulate it
• Is comfortable being accountable to results, not just responsible for activity
• Values sustainability over rapid growth — and understands why that’s a feature,
not a limitation
CultureClementine has sustained a humane work environment for 25 years. We believe
operational discipline and kindness are not opposites. The right person will hold both —
and will understand that the culture here is not incidental to the business. It is the
business.
Compensation & Benefits$90,000–$110,000 depending on experience, plus bonus eligibility. We offer medical,
dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) with employer match; PTO; daily shift meal; employee
discount; phone stipend.
How to ApplyPlease send a resume and a brief cover letter to
[email protected]. We read
cover letters carefully. Rather than summarizing your resume, use it to tell us how you
think about labor in a variable-sales environment — or what you believe a General
Manager’s job actually is. The right answer isn’t a formula. We’re looking for a point of
view.
