As we continue to expand, we are seeking an HR Generalist to help support our people, systems, and growth.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist at The Biscuit Lady will manage and support day-to-day human resources functions for our hourly and salaried workforce. This role is hands-on and collaborative, partnering closely with leadership to ensure compliant HR practices, a positive employee experience, and scalable people processes as we grow to multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle hiring for bakery, front-of-house, back-of-house, and leadership roles
  • Post jobs, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and assist with hiring decisions
  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, and new-hire paperwork (I-9, W-4, state forms)
  • Maintain onboarding checklists and support training coordination

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee questions and concerns
  • Support conflict resolution and employee coaching in partnership with management
  • Assist with performance conversations, corrective actions, and documentation
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
  • Support updates to the employee handbook, SOPs, and workplace policies
  • Track certifications, training, and compliance requirements

Payroll & Benefits Support

  • Coordinate payroll processing with internal teams or external providers
  • Track timekeeping, attendance, PTO, and scheduling compliance
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions
  • Support workers’ compensation, leave administration, and related documentation

Performance, Engagement & Retention

  • Support performance review processes and goal tracking
  • Assist with employee training, engagement, and recognition initiatives
  • Help implement retention strategies for hourly teams in a hospitality environment

HR Process Improvement

  • Help streamline HR workflows and documentation
  • Track and report basic HR metrics (turnover, hiring trends, attendance)
  • Recommend improvements to support growth and operational efficiency

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting hourly workforces (hospitality, retail, or food service preferred)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems, and Google Workspace / Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification
  • Experience supporting multi-location or growing businesses
  • Payroll and benefits administration experience
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
