With established locations in Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, we are now bringing this experience to New York. Role Overview
We are seeking a professional Host/Hostess to serve as the welcoming face of a refined Japanese restaurant. As the first and last impression of the guest experience, the Host/Hostess sets the tone for a seamless and elegant visit.
You will warmly welcome, greet, and seat guests, manage reservations and phone communication with polished etiquette, and oversee guest flow with precision—all while maintaining a gracious presence and genuinely connecting with each guest.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greet guests warmly, manage the waiting list, and provide menus with initial guidance
- Seat guests according to preferences while maintaining balanced server rotation
- Manage reservations, pacing, and all phone communication with polished etiquette
- Maintain and update the CRM with guest notes, preferences, and visit history
- Communicate table status, pacing, VIPs, allergies, and special requests to the team
- Ensure guest satisfaction, answer inquiries, and assist in resolving concerns
- Support service by resetting tables, offering water or menus, and assisting with event‑related seating
- Maintain an organized, guest‑ready entry area and provide exceptional service while assisting other roles as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- 1 year of restaurant or customer‑facing experience is a plus
- Warm, polished presence with strong communication skills
- Able to multitask, stay positive under pressure, and deliver excellent service
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently
- Refined personal presentation and stamina to stand for long periods
- Comfortable with Resy, CRM updates, and fast‑paced luxury dining environments
- Team‑oriented, proactive, and willing to follow instructions or ask for clarity
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability; restaurant experience preferred
