As a restaurant group that is based in NYC and expanding, we own and manage several Australian-inspired dining concepts - Hole in the Wall Cafe, Isla & Co., Daintree Rooftop Bar & Lounge and Wallflower.

We are seeking a multi-unit General Manager to launch and lead some exciting new bar concepts at The Merchant Hotel in the LES. This is a unique opportunity for a strong, energetic, and autonomous leader—a self-sufficient go-getter—to drive operations, lead the team, and shape the success of a brand-new venture. Our General Managers are passionate about hospitality, thrive in high-energy environments, and love creating spaces where both guests and staff feel genuinely taken care of.

As the General Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind our guest experience, team culture, and daily operations. You’ll work closely with our corporate leadership team to ensure the space runs smoothly, profitably, and with a strong sense of purpose and fun. We're looking for someone who leads with heart, sets high standards without taking themselves too seriously, and knows how to build a team that’s as passionate about service as they are.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead by example in providing warm, attentive, and memorable hospitality to every guest, every time. 
  • Hire, train, and develop a high-performing team that shares your love of great service, great drinks, and great vibes. 
  • Create a positive, respectful work environment where team members feel empowered to grow and bring their personalities to work. 
  • Oversee all aspects of operations — from service flow and staffing to inventory and vendor management — with an eye for efficiency and excellence. 
  • Collaborate closely with the Beverage Director on menu planning, bar operations, and team education. 
  • Foster a culture of learning by continuously coaching the team on service standards, hospitality principles, and cocktail execution. 
  • Monitor financial performance in line with company-set KPIs, manage and control costs (including labor), and take a proactive role in ensuring the long-term success of the business.
  • Keep calm and focused in a fast-paced environment while bringing an easygoing, upbeat energy to the space. 

Who You Are

  • A genuine hospitality pro with 3+ years of experience managing teams in bars, lounges, or restaurants — ideally in high-volume, multi-unit spaces. 
  • Someone who loves taking care of people and knows that true hospitality is about connection, not just service. 
  • A great coach and communicator who’s excited to teach, inspire, and develop a team. 
  • Hands-on, self-motivated, and ready to take ownership — but also collaborative and humble enough to roll with the team. 
  • Calm under pressure with a good sense of humor and a flexible, positive attitude. 
  • Passionate about cocktails, curious about trends, and eager to stay ahead of what’s next in hospitality. 
  • Toast and Resy experience, plus a Food Handlers Certificate preferred,
