Summary of Position:

We are in search of a highly motivated, outcome-oriented Director of Sales to champion hospitality-led sales for a new concept in Chicago, blending relationship-driven selling with operational alignment to deliver exceptional guest experiences from first inquiry through post-event follow-up.

The Director of Sales is responsible for driving events and catering revenue, cultivating strong client relationships, and integrating our concepts into the building and community through strategic partnerships and outreach initiatives. This role partners closely with operations, culinary, beverage, and marketing teams to grow event revenue while ensuring a seamless, high-touch guest experience from first inquiry through post-event follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Own the full sales cycle across all venues, including inquiry management, site tours, proposal creation, contracting, and deposit collection
  • Work with the Director of Revenue to build highly strategic events and catering menus specific to the venues and client needs in collaboration with the culinary team.
  • Build and maintain event execution playbooks and SOPs
  • Build and execute a proactive sales strategy through outbound prospecting, partnerships, and relationship-building
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key corporate partners, building tenants, property managers, and event planners
  • Qualify leads, convert inquiries into bookings, and consistently close high-value events and repeat business
  • Prospect and secure new business while expanding relationships with existing clients to drive repeat bookings and long-term partnerships
  • Establish and manage a strong sales pipeline, tracking leads, conversion rates, and revenue performance
  • Partner with Marketing to drive inbound demand through digital campaigns, partnerships, and on-site activations
  • Set and achieve revenue targets tied to events, buyouts, and catering
  • Collaborate with Culinary, Operations, and Marketing to ensure alignment between sales commitments and the guest experience
  • Partner with Finance and Operations on forecasting, pricing strategy, and performance reporting
  • Ensure seamless handoff from sales to operations with clear BEOs, timelines, and guest expectations
  • Oversee pricing strategies, minimums, and packaging for private events and buyouts
  • Maintain organized sales processes in Tripleseat, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting
  • Support day-of-event execution as needed to ensure guest satisfaction and service recover

Guest Experience & Brand Representation

  • Champion Episcope’s culture, values, and service standards while fostering a sales-driven, hospitality-first environment
  • Generate excitement around the restaurant, café, and catering programs through strategic networking, outreach, and client engagement
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Episcope and each venue, representing the company with professionalism and warmth
  • Deliver a high-touch, consultative sales experience that builds trust and long-term relationships
  • Ensure private event guests receive best-in-class hospitality aligned with Episcope brand standards
  • Gather post-event client feedback and partner with operations to continuously improve the private events experience
  • Provide presence at key tastings, site visits, and high-profile events to ensure flawless execution and reinforce client confidence
  • Represent the company at industry, networking, and community events to strengthen the brand and expand the client base
  • Support training of on-site teams on private events standards, upselling opportunities, and execution best practices

Weekly & Periodic Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update BEO menus to reflect seasonal offerings and client needs in support of revenue objectives
  • Monitor and report on KPIs, including:
    • Achievement of sales targets by fiscal period
    • New client acquisition in corporate and social markets
    • Growth of community partnerships and local market engagement
  • Attend weekly BEO and leadership meetings to ensure alignment between sales initiatives and operational execution
  • Partner with Operations to ensure appropriate staffing levels for events and support training and mentorship for consistent execution
  • Provide ongoing revenue forecasting and collaborate with executive leadership to adjust strategies based on market trends and performance data

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in events and catering sales leadership; multi-venue or hospitality group experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet and exceed sales goals
  • Proven success integrating a hospitality brand into a local community and building strong client and partner networks
  • Experience launching or scaling catering programs in competitive markets
  • Strong background in both B2B corporate sales and B2C private event sales
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in Tripleseat; familiarity with Toast and Canva is a plus
  • Highly organized, professional, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a hospitality-first mindset

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($75,000.00 - $95,000.00)
