General Manager – KumikoKumiko is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven General Manager to lead our team and steward the continued evolution of one of Chicago’s most celebrated cocktail bars and dining experiences.
Kumiko is a Michelin-recognized bar and restaurant blending Japanese technique, thoughtful cuisine, and world-class hospitality in an intimate setting. Position SummaryThe General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, financial performance, and daily operations of Kumiko. This role partners closely with ownership, the bar leadership team, and the kitchen to ensure an exceptional and cohesive guest experience while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all front-of-house operations with professionalism, consistency, and integrity
- Develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performing service team
- Uphold and evolve Kumiko’s standards of hospitality, service precision, and beverage knowledge
- Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Manage P&L, labor controls, forecasting, and cost management
- Ensure seamless coordination between bar and kitchen teams
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Drive guest engagement, retention, and community presence
Qualifications
- 5+ years of management experience in fine dining or high-level bar programs
- Strong knowledge of craft cocktails, spirits, wine, and beverage-driven concepts
- Proven financial acumen and experience managing budgets and labor targets
- Demonstrated leadership in team development and culture-building
- Exceptional communication skills and emotional intelligence
- High standards for detail, organization, and operational excellence
