The Popal Group is a growing, family-driven boutique hospitality group setting the standard for Washington, DC dining through thoughtful, ambitious restaurant concepts. Our restaurants are chef-driven, guest-focused, and rooted in genuine hospitality. We aim to be the neighborhood restaurants locals love and destinations that travelers seek out.

We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced AM Line & Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food, takes pride in consistency and cleanliness, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced kitchen environment.

Position Summary

The AM Line & Prep Cook is responsible for daily prep production, station setup, and line execution during service. This role plays a critical part in maintaining food quality, kitchen organization, and operational efficiency. This role will be a hybrid role with a mix of prep on weekdays and service on weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a passion for cooking and commitment to quality

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies

  • Prepare ingredients for service (chopping vegetables, butchering proteins, preparing sauces, etc.)

  • Cook and plate menu items according to recipes and standards

  • Follow instructions from the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs

  • Ensure food is prepared and sent out on time and to standard

  • Maintain proper food storage and label/rotation systems (FIFO)

  • Monitor product freshness and quality

  • Assist with receiving and organizing inventory

  • Maintain a clean and organized station throughout the shift

  • Comply with all health, sanitation, and safety regulations

  • Work collaboratively and maintain a positive, professional attitude

  • Memorize and execute portion sizes and prep procedures

Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in a professional kitchen preferred

  • Basic knife skills and understanding of kitchen equipment

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

  • Weekend and holiday availability required

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working in hot, fast-paced environments

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($24.00 - $26.00)
