Position Summary
As the first point of contact for our guests, the host will play a crucial role in creating a positive first impression, providing exceptional service and creating an exceptional dining experience. This role will support with overseeing reservations, greeting guests and ensuring smooth seating arrangements, while also providing excellent customer service throughout their visit.
Role Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests; ensure a seamless flow through the restaurant.
- Make guests feel comfortable while waiting at the front.
- Interact with guests as they leave the restaurant, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Check-in, store, secure, and retrieve outerwear and assorted personal belongings for guests.
- Take part in pre-service duties and applicable closing duties, including printing menus as well as updating and printing shift summary notes.
- Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and respond well to questions.
- Exhibit a familiarity with menus.
- When needed, answer phone calls and give basic information on reservations, availability, restaurant hours and services.
- Uphold service standards to ensure a memorable guest experience.
- Maintain and uphold our company's vision and values.
- Maintaining a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment.
- Any other tasks as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- At least 1+ year in a hosting position in an upscale dining setting.
- Knowledge of POS and reservation systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to handle various guest relations scenarios.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and welcoming feedback.
- Positive attitude, excellent phone etiquette and the ability to anticipate and meet guests' needs.
- Demonstrates a passion for details and a willingness to learn with a sincere interest in the hospitality industry.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Demonstrates a keen attention to detail and passion for service excellence.
- Professional demeanor, polished appearance with the ability to exceed guests' expectations.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- May be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs at times.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
Compensation
- The hourly pay range for this position is between $20.00 - $22.00 per hour.
- The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
