Established specialty food market / butcher shop in Atwater Village looking for an experienced GENERAL MANAGER. As our busy store continues to get busier and we eventually expand into more locations, we are looking for a solid captain to lead the team at our flagship location. Ideal candidate is someone who loves hospitality and food: someone ambitious, organized, self-driven, and a strong leader.

We are a small, local gourmet market specializing in fresh meats and seafood, but we also offer a wide variety of specialty products such as wine and beer, fresh pastas, imported cheeses, and locally-sourced produce from the farmers market. QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years experience in retail, food service, hospitality, or specialty grocery management
- Proven experience leading, training, and motivating a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong working knowledge of food handling, food safety, and health department standards
- Passion for high-quality food, hospitality, and customer experience
- Highly organized with excellent time-management and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable being hands-on and leading by example on the sales floor
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with scheduling, payroll, and ordering
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, reporting)
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week (salary position)
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in cold environments (walk-in refrigerators/freezers)
THE ROLE
- Oversee day-to-day operations of our flagship market and butcher shop
- Oversee a team of ~20 people alongside AGM
- Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff performance
- Set clear expectations and maintain accountability while fostering a positive team culture
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience and ensure hospitality standards are consistently met
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and compliance with all health regulations
- Control labor and operating costs
- Handle customer concerns and resolve issues with professionalism and care
- Collaborate with Director of Operations on growth initiatives, systems, and future locations
- Lead by example on the floor: jumping in where needed during busy periods
