About Highball
Highball LTD is the newest project from the team behind the iconic East Village speakeasy, PDT (Please Don’t Tell) and the recently opened Mixteca and Kees in the West Village. Highball LTD celebrates classic cocktails with a stylistic nod to the golden age of train travel. Its somewhat hidden location on the 11th floor, accessed through a freight elevator, is inspired by popular speakeasies of that same era.
The Role
Hospitality at Highball LTD. is a team sport. It is essential that the entire team works closely together and is aligned on creating memorable experiences for everyone they encounter from guests, to fellow employees, to vendors, as well as the community. In this tight knit ecosystem, Line Cooks are in charge of skillfully executing all items served to guests. An overall awareness of the kitchen environment and the ability to work cleanly, consistently and in an organized fashion are paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Attendance and timeliness
- Ensuring that all dishes are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking and service standards
- Keeping equipment clean and in excellent working condition
- Maintaining a positive, work environment via effective, professional communication with other employees and managers
Requirements:
- Experience working in a professional kitchen in NYC
- Knife skills and general knowledge of cooking techniques
- Friendly, outgoing, energetic team player with a positive attitude
- Ability to think quickly and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to take direction and execute
- Must work nights and/or weekends.
- Culinary certificate or degree a plus.
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours and lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to arrive on time and work a full shift, including station breakdown
