About the Job
The Line/Deli Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to recipe standards while maintaining a clean, organized, safe workstation and assisting with order taking at the deli counter. This role ensures consistency, quality, and speed in all food production to support excellent guest experiences.
NOTE: This position may require working at any of Bagel Pub’s 9 locations in Manhattan or Brooklyn depending on scheduling and operational needs.
General Duties & Responsibilities
· Prepare all menu items following standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
· Cook and assemble dishes on the line during service with accuracy and speed.
· Ensure all ingredients are properly prepped, labeled, stored, and rotated (FIFO).
· Maintain consistent portion sizes, garnishes, and presentations.
· Assist with taking orders at the deli counter when needed
· Refill and maintain line items throughout service to avoid running out of product
· Set up assigned station with all necessary tools, equipment, and ingredients.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workspace during shift.
· Break down and clean station fully at the end of shift, including proper storage of food.
· Complete daily prep lists and communicate any shortages to the Manager or Executive Chef
· Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines.
· Monitor temperatures of food items and equipment.
· Follow allergen-awareness protocols and avoid cross-contamination.
· Report any equipment issues or safety hazards immediately.
· Communicate clearly with fellow cooks, prep staff, dishwashers, and FOH team.
· Coordinate timing of dishes during high-volume periods.
· Assist other stations when needed to ensure smooth service.
· Work with urgency while maintaining accuracy and quality.
· Follow prep lists, par levels, and standardized systems.
· Help minimize waste by using ingredients correctly and following portion controls
General Skills & Requirements
· Ability to stand for 8+ hours.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Comfort working near heat, ovens, grills, and sharp objects.
· Ability to bend, reach, and move consistently throughout the shift
· Previous line cook or relevant kitchen experience (fast-casual, restaurant, or production kitchen).
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
