Beneath GUI Steakhouse is Bar 92, an intimate lounge and bar that extends the experience beyond the dining room. Bar 92 offers a focused cocktail program, curated spirits, and a vibrant yet refined atmosphere, serving as both a complement to the steakhouse and a destination in its own right. Together, GUI Steakhouse and Bar 92 operate as a unified hospitality program committed to excellence, consistency, and elevated guest experiences.
We are seeking a dedicated Barback to support our beverage program and ensure seamless bar operations throughout service.
Position OverviewThe Barback plays an essential role in maintaining the efficiency, organization, and readiness of the bar. Working closely with bartenders and service staff, this position ensures that all elements of the bar are fully prepared and maintained to support consistent, high-quality service.
This role may support service at Bar 92, GUI Steakhouse, or both locations, depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, including workstations, storage, and service areas

Restock spirits, wine, glassware, garnishes, ice, and bar tools throughout service

Polish and prepare glassware to fine dining and steakhouse standards

Provide timely and efficient support to bartenders during service

Assist with opening and closing bar preparation and breakdown

Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs proactively

Maintain cleanliness of bar equipment, tools, and surrounding guest areas

Uphold professional standards of appearance, conduct, and discipline

1–3 years of barback experience, preferably in fine dining, steakhouse, or upscale bar environments

Strong understanding of bar operations and service flow

Ability to perform efficiently in fast-paced, high-standard environments

Excellent attention to detail and cleanliness

Strong work ethic, reliability, and team-oriented mindset

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods

Flexibility to work across both Bar 92 and GUI Steakhouse as needed

Hourly wage: $11.35/hour (tipped wage, per NYC standards)

Additional compensation: Tip pool participation
