Executive Chef – Sushi Restaurant Group (Growth-Focused)

Currently operating one successful location, we are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary program, build scalable systems, and help prepare the business for expansion—without compromising quality or culture.
This role is ideal for a chef who is equally passionate about exceptional food and strong operations, and who wants to play a meaningful leadership role in growing a serious restaurant business.
The Role
The Executive Chef will own all culinary and back-of-house operations while acting as a strategic partner to ownership. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of product, execution, and consistency—while building the people, systems, and discipline required to scale.
This is a leadership role that requires hands-on excellence and long-term thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Own all culinary and BOH operations across the business
- Maintain uncompromising standards for food quality, consistency, and execution
- Lead menu development, seasonal updates, and product innovation (within brand vision)
- Build and enforce SOPs for prep, service, food safety, and quality control
- Recruit, train, mentor, and retain BOH leadership and kitchen staff
- Develop training systems to ensure consistency across current and future locations
- Oversee sourcing, vendor relationships, and product specifications
- Manage food costs, inventory, yield, and waste control
- Partner with ownership on growth strategy and future location readiness
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of progressive kitchen leadership experience
- Prior experience as an Executive Chef or Head Chef
- Deep expertise in sushi and Japanese cuisine (traditional and/or modern)
- Proven ability to run clean, disciplined, and high-performing kitchens
- Strong people manager with experience building teams and developing leaders
- Highly organized with strong systems, documentation, and training mindset
- Financially literate with solid understanding of food cost and margins
- Experience preparing kitchens or concepts for expansion is a strong plus
