Job Details
Director of Operations – Sushi Restaurant Group (Growth-Focused)

Location: New York City
Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Ownership

We are a growing, quality-driven sushi restaurant with a strong brand, a loyal following, and ambitions to scale. Currently operating one successful location, we are seeking an experienced Director of Hospitality to help professionalize, streamline, and expand the business thoughtfully and profitably.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who has lived restaurant operations—front to back—and is excited to build systems, develop people, and prepare a great restaurant for its next phase of growth.

The Role

The Director of Operations will oversee all day-to-day operational functions while working closely with ownership to design and execute a scalable growth strategy. You will be responsible for creating structure without sacrificing quality, culture, or hospitality.

This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all restaurant operations, including BOH, FOH, purchasing, inventory, labor, and compliance

  • Build and implement scalable systems, SOPs, and operational playbooks

  • Lead, mentor, and hold accountable management and key team members

  • Partner with ownership on growth planning, new locations, and operational readiness

  • Ensure consistent execution of food quality, service standards, and guest experience

  • Manage labor efficiency, scheduling, and performance management

  • Improve margins through thoughtful cost control without compromising quality

  • Establish training programs and leadership development pathways

  • Oversee vendor relationships, sourcing, and operational logistics

  • Act as a cultural leader, setting the tone for professionalism, accountability, and excellence

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 5+ years of progressive restaurant operations experience

  • Senior-level leadership experience (Director of Ops, Multi-Unit Manager, GM with expansion exposure, etc.)

  • Deep understanding of both BOH and FOH operations, ideally with multiple locations

  • Proven track record of building teams, systems, and scalable processes

  • Strong people manager with excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and financially literate

  • Experience preparing a restaurant or group for expansion is a major plus

Why This Role
  • Opportunity to help shape and scale a national brand

  • Competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience

  • Significant growth potential as the company expands

If you’re an experienced restaurant operator who thrives in building structure, developing teams, and scaling great concepts the right way, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply: Please submit your resume and a brief note outlining your operational experience and interest in this role.
