PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
The Fed is one of Boston’s most stylish and storied cocktail and culinary experiences. Housed in the former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, The Fed draws inspiration from the building’s inception. Each curated drink is thoughtfully composed to balance flavor, creativity, and presentation. The menu offers elevated seasonal fare and a variety of shareable plates from locally sourced ingredients that can be enjoyed indoors or on the seasonal Rose Garden Terrace.
The Bar Manager for The Fed is a member of the Food and Beverage team whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the Hotel’s service standards and food & beverage revenues are met or exceeded in The Fed. Hospitable, welcoming and friendly guest service are essential requirements of the position, along with necessary technical skills required for the operation of The Fed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for overseeing the entire operation of The Fed.
- Develop and create signature hand crafted cocktails, local craft beer selections and desirable wine offerings.
- Maintain inventory of supplies/approve all requisitions to ensure operation is held at par standards.
- Maintain POS systems, update product pricing and run daily reports.
- Responsible for maintaining beverage cost to appropriate levels in The Fed.
- Promote The Fed experience to internal and external guests.
- Ensure maximum level of guest service while maintaining Brand and Forbes standards.
- Handle guest requests/complaints.
- Responsible for menu design and creating promotional materials and specials.
- Oversee and conduct beverage education for Fed colleagues and ensure the team is aware of current beverage trends and adhering to quality standards.
- Prepare daily/weekly payroll and schedule.
- Schedule and conduct monthly departmental meetings.
- Interview and train new colleagues. Handle all disciplinary action as necessary.

- Maintain high level of creativity amongst the team with regards to food & beverage menus.
- Complete projects delegated by supervisor in timely manner.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Experience with and strong knowledge of POS and cocktail menu design.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Food Safety: Abide by food safety requirements and hold others accountable to monitor FIFO inventory and visually inspect food preparation and delivery.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a luxury hotel or independent restaurant as Bar/Beverage Manager preferred.
- Two years of cocktail mixology experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- ServSafe Food Handler and TIPS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs. as needed. Ability to work long hours & have the ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
SALARY RANGE
- $88,000 - $92,000 annually
