Summary: The Host plays a pivotal role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for our guests. The Host is the first point of contact for guests, ensuring they feel valued from the moment they walk through the door. The Host will manage reservations, oversee the seating process, and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the restaurant.
Responsibilities:
- Create a positive and inviting atmosphere by warmly welcoming guests upon arrival and departure while setting the tone for the Jade Rabbit guest experience.
- Manage reservations and walk-in flow effectively, maintaining control of seating during peak service periods.
- Record reservation details accurately within the reservation system and maintain organized guest profiles and contact information.
- Organize and prioritize seating arrangements based on reservations, service pacing, and operational readiness.
- Optimize table turnover while maintaining a comfortable and unhurried guest experience.
- Provide accurate and realistic wait times while proactively updating guests on seating status.
- Assist guests with menu questions, concept details, and special requests prior to seating.
- Collaborate closely with servers and management to ensure balanced service flow throughout the dining room.
- Communicate table assignments, VIP notes, timing considerations, and special requests clearly to service staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming entrance and waiting area reflective of brand standards.
- Recognize repeat and VIP guests and provide a personalized and attentive experience.
- Coordinate celebrations, special accommodations, and guest preferences with service teams.
- Promote specials, events, or additional guest experiences when appropriate.
- Manage takeout orders and coordinate guest pickups when applicable.
- Address guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with restaurant management and team members regarding guest flow and service needs.
- Adhere to Company policies and procedures related to guest services and hospitality standards.
Must Haves:
- 2+ years’ experience in a Host or Guest Services role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of reservation systems; OpenTable experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a dedication to providing exceptional service.
- Basic knowledge of restaurant operations and front-of-house coordination.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience in upscale or high-volume dining environments preferred.
