Line Cook

Chalkboard Wings & BBQ is hiring an evening line cook. We're looking for experienced cooks that can handle busy evening and weekend rushes and is looking to expand their culinary knowledge. Located in the Mount Vernon/Woodlawn neighborhood of South Alexandria, our kitchen serves a 45 seat restaurant, as well as popup events and catering around Northern Virginia and Washington DC. This position has a lot of room for growth within the company.

Weekend and evening availability is a must.

While experience and education are encouraged, we’re looking for people willing to learn the restaurant, bar, and BBQ business and have a good time while doing it. We believe in hiring, training, and empowering our staff to help us build this business while helping them build a career.

• Prepping during shifts to make execution of menu easier during busy service
• Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistent products
• Preparing entrees, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, wings, and more in a quick manner with an expectation of ticket times under 10-15 minutes
• Make sure all to-go orders are fully complete before giving them to the customer our courier
• Performing closing duties such as properly chilling and storing meats and other hot held food, cleaning fryers, grills, and other kitchen equipment, and ensuring the line is properly stocked for our opening staff
• Keeping the kitchen and workspaces clean throughout your shift, and leaving the restaurant only once the space is immaculately clean
• Keep dry storage, walk-in, and line well organized throughout your shift
• Must be able to regularly carry 45lbs of weight
• You must have a ServSafe manager certification, or be willing to get it within the first 30 days of employment

In just a few short years Chalkboard has become the neighborhood bar, while having a heightened food experience through our extensive wing menu, wood smoked BBQ, and smash burgers as well as catering some great events around the region.
