Position Overview
Jikoni is a private dining event company seeking a versatile and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team. This role encompasses the full culinary cycle—from foundational prep work to high-heat line execution. You will be responsible for turning raw ingredients into signature components and executing a menu inspired by the bold flavors of Nigeria and Kenya. The ideal candidate is a meticulous professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their craft, and values teamwork and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute menu items with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Specialize in grilling and preparation while supporting all kitchen stations as needed
- Complete daily prep, including marinades, proteins, and fresh ingredients, ensuring readiness for service
- Maintain quality standards for flavor, presentation, and portioning
- Uphold all cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards in accordance with California regulations
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service
What We’re Looking For
Technical Skill & Craft: You have experience in high-volume kitchens, can manage multiple tickets at once, and possess a genuine interest in both foundational prep and final plating.
Reliability & Accountability
You are punctual, dependable, and take ownership of your responsibilities. You understand that strong teams rely on consistency and mutual support.
Professionalism Under Pressure
You bring a calm, solution-oriented mindset to busy service periods and help maintain a positive kitchen environment.
Cleanliness & Organization
You maintain a clean, organized station and follow all food safety and sanitation protocols.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in a professional, fast-paced kitchen
- Grilling experience strongly preferred
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Driver’s license
- Must be available weekends
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills
- Background check required
