Kitchen Assistant / Order Preparation

Birley Bakery is the newest opening by the club owner and entrepreneur Robin Birley; owner of prestigious private members’ clubs 5 Hertford Street and Oswald’s in London. Located on the Upper East Side’s Madison Avenue, we aim to create a warm and welcoming environment, inspired by the classic concept of Boulangerie-Patisserie. 

We are seeking for a reliable and organized Kitchen Assistant to work in our dark kitchen. The main responsibility of this role is to prepare customer orders for delivery and ensure they are properly packed and ready for drivers.

What we’re looking for:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Good communication skills and friendliness.
• Punctual, reliable and team-oriented.
• Knowledge of food handling and hygiene. Food handlers certification is required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work a variable schedule, including early morning, nights, weekends and holidays per the needs of the business.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be working as part of an established team delivering exceptional experiences daily. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Assemble complete orders accurately (food and drinks).
• Pack all items carefully into delivery bags.
• Pack cakes into boxes and pastries into bags.
• Prepare hot drinks such as coffee and tea.
• Reheat sandwiches when needed, according to instructions.
• Hand over orders to delivery drivers in a clear and organized manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensure food safety in accordance with DOH standards.
