We’re a team of food lovers, excited to connect with customers, serve Brooklyn's best sandwiches, create magnificent cheese boards, and champion small batch specialty food makers in a retail environment. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing business with room to learn, develop, and make an impact!

We’re looking for a Kitchen Assistant (focus on Pastry) to join us approximately three days per week. This role is ideal for someone with some prior kitchen experience who enjoys working with pastry, supporting production, and being part of a fast-paced, supportive kitchen.

What You’ll Do:

As a Kitchen Assistant (Pastry Cook), you’ll support daily kitchen operations with a strong focus on prep and pastry production. You’ll work closely with the kitchen team to ensure everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Your work will directly support our pastry program, catering efforts, and occasional line service—making you a key part of the kitchen’s success.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone who is dependable, curious, and passionate about food. The ideal candidate is:

  • Hands-on kitchen experience – You’ve worked in a professional kitchen and understand basic prep, organization, and kitchen flow.

  • Interested in pastry – You have some pastry experience or a strong desire to learn and grow in this area.

  • Quality-driven – You care about consistency, technique, and presenting food well.

  • Comfortable in a Spanish-speaking kitchen – Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

  • A team player – You communicate well (spanish is a plus), support others, and contribute to a positive kitchen culture.

  • Reliable and organized – You show up on time, follow instructions, and take pride in your work.

  • A true food lover – You’re excited by ingredients, technique, and the process of making great food.

Key Responsibilities:Kitchen Prep & Pastry Production
  • Assist with daily prep for both savory and pastry items

  • Support pastry production, including mixing, shaping, baking, and finishing

  • Follow recipes and kitchen standards with accuracy and consistency

Catering & Service Support
  • Assist with catering prep and packaging for back of house

  • Support occasional line work during service as needed

Kitchen Operations & Organization
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation

  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times

Team Collaboration & Growth
  • Work closely with the chef and kitchen staff to support daily operations

  • Communicate clearly about prep needs, inventory, and workflow

  • Take feedback well and show a willingness to learn and improve
