Job Details

We’re hiring a Cafe Manager to oversee daily operations between our two locations – Silence Please, our hi-fi listening room and cafe in Lower Manhattan, and TeaBowl, our matcha bar in the West Village. This role is for someone who understands hospitality, can lead a team, and protect the calm, curated experience that defines both spaces.

The Cafe Manager's primary responsibilities include coordinating with SP's events and bookings departments, scheduling staff, interviewing and hiring, running payroll, and ensuring positive guest experiences. This person sets the tone for the whole team, and will work regularly behind the counter with baristas.

The Cafe Manager will work closely with our Lead Baristas, who are responsible for inventory and training. They will be your support in covering all bases. Building an improved matcha training program at TeaBowl is an example of something we’re working towards and want our manager to be apart of teaching matcha preparation, service standards, and how to host guests in a way that feels intuitive and intentional.

The manager will occasionally oversee events and listening sessions at Silence Please—coordinating staffing, audiovisual tech support, setup, and breakdown with thoughtful execution. They’ll work closely with ownership on operations, feedback, and growth as Silence Please and TeaBowl continue to evolve.

We’re looking for someone with 2–4+ years of cafe experience, including at least some management or lead responsibility (specialty coffee/tea, restaurant, and/or design-forward retail). Strong organization and communication skills are essential. A genuine interest in tea, sound, and design-driven spaces is a big plus.

This is a full-time hybrid in-person/remote role. You make your own schedule. Weekend availability is required, along with flexibility for occasional evenings and events. Compensation is based on experience, with room for growth as TeaBowl and Silence Please expand their concepts.

Part of Silence Please & Teabowl

Silence Please is a speaker design studio based in New York City.

We design high-fidelity speakers that prioritize depth over volume, clarity over loudness, and presence over performance.

Each piece is built to reveal the quiet details in sound, such as the breath before a word, the touch of a string, or the shape of a room.

Our space lives inside a former art gallery on the Bowery. It’s part listening room, part tea house. A place to slow down. To tune in and listen gently.

We believe silence is not the absence of sound, but the presence of attention.

We started Silence Please to make something slower. Something quieter. Something that tunes us back to what’s always been there. We don’t think of speakers as loud objects. We see them as instruments of self care.

Every detail of our speakers, from acoustic tuning to physical form, is carefully considered to serve the listening experience.

We began with a single prototype in a small New York studio.

Then came a gallery.

Then a cup of tea.

Then many others.
