Job Details

Sip & Guzzle is seeking an experienced and passionate Line Cook to join our culinary team!

At Sip & Guzzle, we believe that successful line cooks are true hospitality professionals who play a critical role in shaping the guest experience and contributing to a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Our kitchen is led by Executive Chef Mike Bagale, formerly of the 3 Michelin-starred Alinea in Chicago, and our Chef de Cuisine Isaac Leidenfrost, who lead the kitchen as Executive Sous Chef of the 2 Michelin-star Aska. This is an exceptional opportunity to learn and grow alongside two incredibly experienced chefs.

Role Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for prepping, cooking, and plating dishes to the highest standards of quality and consistency, while maintaining a clean, efficient, and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work each scheduled shift
  • Set up assigned stations with appropriate mise en place before service

  • Prepare menu items to spec in coordination with the kitchen team and at the direction of the chefs

  • Assist other stations or areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork

  • Follow allergy protocols and modify dishes as directed to ensure guest safety

  • Properly label, stock, and organize ingredients and prepared items

  • Maintain a neat, sanitary, and safe workstation throughout service

  • Collaborate with team members while adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards

  • Clean and sanitize all tools and equipment regularly

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor all team members
  • Take ownership and responsibility of your space and station, reporting waste to the chefs

  • Open mind to learning new techniques and procedures


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for 8–10 hours, bend, lift, and move throughout the shift

  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift up to 40 lbs

  • Hearing, speaking, reaching, and visual acuity necessary for a fast-paced kitchen environment

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of proven experience as a line cook or in a comparable role

  • Strong ability to manage a station from prep through service

  • Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to consistency and cleanliness

  • Full-time availability, including nights and weekends

  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($23.00 - $27.00)

Shingo Gokan’s The SG Club in Tokyo imagined the kind of American bar that samurai would have opened upon returning to Tokyo from visiting New York. Sip and Guzzle represents the next chapter of this vision and imagines if the samurai did open that bar and took everything they learned, the best of New York and Tokyo, and came back to to where it all started.

Sip and Guzzle is a dual concept bar and restaurant in the heart of the West Village. The talented team including Shingo Gokan, Steve Schneider formerly of EO New York, Mike Bagale former Executive Chef of Chicago's Alinea, and Ben Yabrow former head bartender at Double Chicken Please came together to open Sip and Guzzle in January of 2024.
