Job Summary

Niku is composed of a collection of passionate and creative professionals with an unwavering commitment to executing Michelin-Star service at the highest level. We are currently recruiting Captains and Backwaiters to join our team. Ideal candidates bring strong restaurant experience, ideally in a fine-dining setting, fantastic customer service skills, and a great teamwork spirit!

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Knowledge of food and beverage menu, preparation, and food safety.

· Ability to confidently make recommendations and upsell offerings.

· Strong understanding of steps of service in fine dining.

Minimum Requirements:
· Minimum of 2 years of fine dining experience

· Passion and desire to learn

· Knowledge of food safety principles and procedures

· Well-groomed and follow Niku’s uniform and appearance standards

· A flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays

· Exceptional customer service skills.

Prerequisites for Employment:

  • Valid California ServSafe Food Handler Certification
  • Valid Responsible Beverage Service Certification

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Server to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the Captain/Backwaiter is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear. Frequently it is required to use hands and arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Server is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The Captain/Backwaiter must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.

Compensation: Hourly ($19.18) plus tips
