Job Role: Sandwich/Prep Person
Job Summary: We are seeking an energetic and reliable individual with relevant Back of House experience and great attention to detail to join our sandwich/prep team. This role includes active hot line cooking, cold line preparation, prep, side work, dishes and cleaning, dough and bench support, and more.
Candidates should be prepared to handle station prep/maintenance throughout their shift, follow directions, communicate well, and work collaboratively with management and their team.
Position Type: Full Time, ~36-40 hours a week; Full Weekend Availability Required. Seeking candidates with flexibility around their schedule to cover other shifts if necessary. Four Days a Week: Thursday through Sunday, 6/6:30am-3/3:30pm!
Additional Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Manage multiple tickets/orders at once, ensuring sandwiches are built to our standards and handled neatly in a timely fashion.
- General Prep: Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, weighing and portioning ingredients.
- Dough Support: An opportunity to grow your culinary knowledge and experience by supporting our bakers and dough team on the bench by shaping bagels and bialys, putting together different doughs and batters, and more.
- Recipes: Follow recipes to prepare several of our signature offerings including whitefish and egg salads.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain a clean and organized back-of-house area, including work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to support a smooth and efficient operation. This includes communicating well wiith all members of staff and ownership, and being able to respond to the needs of the business quickly and collaboratively.
- Adherence to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Opening: Show up ready to work and get sandwich station set up in a thoughtful and timely manner. Take stock of the station and contribute to prep list as needed.
- Closing: Hit reset on the stations and get tools and dishes to our dishwasher in a timely fashion. Wipe down all surfaces, and adjacent stations as needed. Clean it the way you want to receive it.
- Front of House: BOH staff may be asked to cross train on Front of House work including expo, coffee service, and Point of Sale service.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Write the end of day prep and inventory list for next day's service; Pitch in where needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar back-of-house role is preferred.
- The shop is pescatarian. This means we do not process meat but we do process fish. This currently includes whole smoked whitefish, cold smoked salmon (lox), and tinned sardines. Candidates must be comfortable with preparing *all* sandwich components.
- Excellent time management, ability to follow directions, attention to detail.
- An ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Full Time availability is a requirement.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.
