Bonjour! We are looking for enthusiastic Pastry Cooks to join our small, growing team!
Atelier Ariana is a café and pâtisserie in the heart of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. It is a space to bring French-inspired foods, teas, and coffees to Brooklyn. Atelier Ariana is the lifelong dream of head chef and owner: Chef Ariana. Our menus feature seasonal, unique recipes fully made in-house.
Ideal candidates will see the value in artisanal products and be eager to learn and grow as a chef. They will be ready and able to work/be trained in various capacities within the kitchen: lamination and viennoiseries, brioche, cakes, tarts, choux, cookies, jams, candies, chocolates, baking, and other pastry prep. They will feel comfortable working with commercial kitchen equipment: sheeter, stand mixer, induction, and electric ovens.
Current shifts will be Thursday-Sunday. Must be able to work morning shifts (6-7:30AM start time).
REQUESTED SKILLS:
- At minimum, basic knowledge of viennoiseries production
- Can read and follow recipes
- Is punctual and reliable
- Is skilled in time management
- Works well in a team, as well as independently
- Basic knowledge of classical French pastry techniques
- Skilled in using scales
- Must be adaptable and enthusiastic about preparing a variety of recipes during the course of a shift
- Certificate in Food Protection (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in kitchens (minimum)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily lists will be provided by the head or sous chef; you will be responsible for managing and prioritizing your tasks
- Work efficiently to execute a variety of recipes: viennoiseries, entremets, tea cakes, tarts, cookies, macarons, etc
- Maintain clean working environments (clean as you go); clean kitchens thoroughly at the end of shift
- Adhere to food and safety guidelines
- Able to lift up to 50lb bag of ingredients
- Comfortable doing dishes with a commercial dishwasher
- Adapt to the changing and growing needs of this small business as needed
- Availability to work shifts Wednesday-Sunday (our current opening hours)
CURRENT SCHEDULE: 6-8h shifts Thursday-Sunday (24-32h/week); potential for up to 40h/week
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $21.00)
