Overview:
Steingold’s Bakehouse, a new establishment in Humboldt Park, Chicago, specializing in artisanal bagels and Jewish-inspired deli fare, is seeking a dedicated Bagel Baker to join our team. We pride ourselves on crafting high-quality NY bagels using traditional methods and premium ingredients.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and mix bagel dough according to recipes and established procedures.
- Utilize commercial baking machinery to ensure bagels are consistency in size, shape, and texture.
- Boil bagels in water and bake them in commercial ovens to company standards
- Monitor proofing and baking times to maintain product quality and freshness
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- Communicate with coworkers on other shifts to ensure a smooth transition and timely delivery of freshly baked bagels.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a baker, specifically in bagel making or similar artisanal breads.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently during overnight hours.
- Timeliness is a must!
- Knowledge of ingredients and their functions in bagel production.
- Understanding of baking techniques, including mixing, shaping, proofing, and baking.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for producing high-quality baked goods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy trays and bags of flour (up to 50 lbs).
- Availability to work overnight shifts and weekends as needed.
