Job Details
Oriana is the latest venture from Chef Andy Quinn and Sommelier Cedric Nicaise, an evolution of The Noortwyck and a new expression of their shared vision. The restaurant is slated to open in late January or early February.

Oriana is where fire meets flavour in the heart of Nolita. We deliver technique without the formality and are focused on reclaiming what a wood-fired restaurant is. Oriana honours the legacy of great New York restaurants while creating something new: a downtown restaurant where food, wine and culture come together. A Sommelier is primarily focused on beverage service. He or she is an expert in the beverages that will be on offer at the restaurant and will be able to make recommendations based on each specific guests’ needs and wants.

Responsibilities:
• Graciously assist guests 'selection of wine and beverage to accompany menu selections.
• Be able to guide by providing detailed knowledge of our food and beverage programs.
• Sommeliers are the face of the restaurant, and responsible for representing our culture, energy to its highest standards.
• Sommeliers are expected to be leaders on the floor, setting and maintaining service standards for the team.
• Handle guest complaints and inquires with grace and efficiency, knowing when to loop in the management team.
• Maintain the flow of service by communicating and working with the dining room, bar and management teams.

What we look for:
• Availability to work weekends.
• 3+ years experience in a guest-facing restaurant role preferred
• Extensive wine and beverage knowledge
• English fluency
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to balance & carry multiple plates, glass racks and or/glasses, and lift objects up to 30 lbs
• Positive team-first attitude
• Commitment to education and learning

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($17.00) plus tips
