Job Details

We’re looking for experienced, passionate and creative evening pastry cooks to join the team at Theodora! 

This role can be tailored to fit the right candidate. Options include:
- Part Time 
~3 shifts per week
- Full Time with a mix of savory and pastry shifts
~2 pastry and 2 savory
- Part Time at Theodora and Part Time at Thea Bakery
~2 PM pastry shifts and 3 afternoon bakery shifts

Chef/owner Tomer Blechman of the popular Mediterranean restaurant Miss Ada in Fort Greene and its sister concept Nili in Carroll Gardens opens his newest concept, Theodora with co-owner Gerardo Estevez. Theodora is a progression of Miss Ada, taking the community Tomer built. At the heart of Theodora is an inviting open kitchen focusing on fresh and dry-aged seafood and open-fire cooking. 

We’re interested in pastry cooks who are looking to be on a collaborative, high-energy team. Having a positive attitude and effective communication skills are two essential qualities we’re looking for somebody in this position to fill.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The role is primarily centered around execution of pastries during dinner service 
  • Assists with the preparation, presentation and storage of food items
  • Adhere to all DOH and food safety standards

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a pastry setting with at least one year in a restaurant kitchen
  • Vast knowledge of pastry techniques such as, mixing/handling bread dough, baking cakes, effectively cooking ice cream bases, etc. 
  • Ability to follow direction/recipes to ensure quality and consistency throughout our product 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once 
  • Working in a clean and organized manner throughout your shift 
  • Cleans and restocks working stations as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time [over 7 hours]
  • Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds steadily 
  • Be comfortable bending, sitting, walking extended distances including up and down flights of stairs, and moving. 
  • Be comfortable walking up and down stairs frequently, including while carrying large containers

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($19.00 - $21.00)
