JOB OVERVIEW

At Bar Heretic, a Line Cook is responsible for producing menu items for our café, bakery and wine bar in accordance with our recipes. Reports to the Kitchen Operations Manager.

• Prepares sandwiches, salads, bar snacks and other foods according to our recipes
• Follows opening and closing checklists and prep lists, prepares and organizes the station before service to ensure a smooth and successful service
• Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
• Works towards mastering all shifts and production processes
• Assists FOH café team if needed and engages with guests interested in learning about our products
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of experience in a food preparation position
• Basic math and measuring skills
• Strong work ethic, communication and time management skills
• Post-secondary culinary program highly preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule often including evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
• Ability to work with an electric convection oven, tabletop fryers and gas range
• Food Handler’s License required
