JOB OVERVIEW
At Bar Heretic, a Porter is responsible for receiving and storing food and paper goods orders, washing and organizing dishes, trash removal, and other activities to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment. Reports to the Kitchen Operations Manager.
- Receives orders, checks them against purchase orders, and alerts manager of any missing or incorrect items. Breaks down all order packaging and stores items according to set standards
- Washes all kitchen dishes and returns them to their assigned locations
- Assists with kitchen prep as needed
- Ensures trash and recycling is removed from kitchen and dining areas throughout shift, and sets out trash at closing
- Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
- Works towards mastering all shifts and production processes
- Assists FOH café team if needed
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in a kitchen position
- Basic math and measuring skills
- Strong work ethic, communication and time management skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule often including mornings, evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
- Food Handler’s License required
