Join our culinary team at a mano in the Old 4th Ward of Atlanta, GA. We are a leader in our local hospitality industry known for our rustic and comforting Italian dishes, with an innovative beverage program, excellent service and a warm, inviting ambiance. We are seeking a dedicated and creative Sous Chef to collaborate with our Executive Chef and lead our kitchen staff to deliver exceptional culinary dishes to our guests. Sous experience is preferred, but not necessary. We are looking for a passionate chef that is ready to grow and expand their culinary skills! This is a full-time, dynamic, hands-on leadership opportunity for a professional who thrives in a high volume, quality driven environment and is eager to make an impact through innovation and excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all kitchen activities, ensuring smooth operations during our thriving dinner service.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef in menu planning and development; Bring culinary passion and creative ideas for new seasonal dishes.
  • Oversee all food preparation and culinary presentations; ensuring the highest quality and consistency.
  • Manage kitchen inventory; help to control food costs and limit food waste. Place produce orders to ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate junior kitchen staff; foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Ensure the kitchen maintains its high standards of cleanliness.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High volume line experience; grill, sauté & pasta stations
  • Experience of 2+ years of BOH & line cook.
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A passion for culinary excellence and a keen attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
  • Relevant certifications, such as a food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe), are required.
  • A culinary degree or equivalent professional experience is highly preferred.
