Le Suprême is a modern French brasserie located in the iconic and newly restored Book Tower in Detroit. We deliver an elevated yet approachable dining experience rooted in French technique, timeless hospitality, and thoughtful execution.

Position Summary
The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in all culinary operations, helping lead the kitchen team, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure exceptional guest experiences. This role requires strong leadership, a passion for French-inspired cuisine, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and oversight of all culinary stations.

  • Execute dishes with consistency, adhering to Le Suprême’s culinary standards and French brasserie style.

  • Lead and mentor kitchen staff; provide coaching, training, and support to cooks and stewards.

  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and proper product rotation to maintain cost targets and minimize waste.

  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are followed in accordance with health department regulations.

  • Collaborate on menu development, seasonal features, specials, and event menus.

  • Supervise line checks, prep lists, and quality control throughout service.

  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and onboarding of new culinary team members.

  • Maintain equipment, report repair needs, and ensure a clean and organized kitchen environment.

  • Uphold Method Co.’s hospitality values and contribute to a positive team culture.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of culinary experience in a full-service or fine-dining kitchen; French cuisine experience strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead cook role required.

  • Strong understanding of French techniques, sauces, and brasserie-style dishes.

  • Ability to manage, train, and motivate a diverse kitchen team.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • ServSafe or equivalent certification preferred.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($55,000.00 - $65,000.00)
