General Manager Job Description: New Italian Restaurant - Greenwich, CT
A respected High-End Hospitality Group (working in partnership with a Renowned Restaurateur/Sommelier) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and high-tenure General Manager (GM) to lead the opening and operations of a new, premier Italian restaurant concept in Greenwich, Connecticut.
This is a critical opportunity to shape the culture and success of a major culinary venture from the ground up, demanding a leader with a proven track record in luxury dining, exceptional financial acumen, and an unyielding commitment to excellence in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
I. Leadership & Operations Excellence

Oversee all daily restaurant operations, ensuring the highest standards of service, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction are consistently maintained.

Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing team across all Front-of-House (FOH) and Back-of-House (BOH) roles, fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Lead by example, upholding the service philosophy established by the Hospitality Group and Restaurateur, focusing on genuine warmth, detailed knowledge, and intuitive guest recognition.

Manage scheduling, payroll, and labor cost control while ensuring adequate staffing levels.
II. Financial & Administrative Management

Develop, manage, and achieve ambitious P&L objectives, including budget forecasting, expense control, and revenue generation.

Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (sales, labor, food/beverage costs) and implement strategic adjustments to optimize profitability.

Manage inventory and procurement, ensuring quality standards are met while negotiating favorable terms with vendors and suppliers.

Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and labor laws.
III. Guest Experience & Hospitality

Set the standard for exceptional, high-touch hospitality that caters to a discerning clientele.

Act as the primary face of the restaurant, personally engaging with guests to build strong relationships, manage feedback, and ensure memorable dining experiences.

Work closely with the Sommelier/Beverage Director and Executive Chef to maintain and elevate the integrity of the food and beverage program.

Develop and implement local marketing and community outreach strategies to drive repeat business and new clientele.
Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive General Manager experience in a reputable, high-end/luxury full-service restaurant environment.

Demonstrable career tenure with a history of long-term commitment to successful establishments.

Exceptional financial literacy with a strong understanding of P&L statements, budgeting, cost control, and inventory management systems.

Extensive knowledge of fine dining standards, including advanced understanding of cuisine, high-end wines, and craft cocktails, preferably with a focus on Italian concepts.

Proven ability to successfully manage a restaurant opening is highly desirable.

Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate and manage diverse teams in a high-pressure, high-volume environment.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; must be articulate and professional in all dealings.

Must be proficient with modern restaurant technology (POS systems, reservation software, back-office management tools).
