TUCKSHOP is an Australian-owned coffee and toastie café — a nod to our favorite spots back home and a fresh new addition to the West Village. We keep things simple, elevated, and consistent: great coffee, quality ingredients, and warm, friendly service. We’re a small team with a big focus on efficiency, cleanliness, and pride in what we serve.

Role: Kitchen Prep

Position Summary

The Kitchen Prep role supports the daily production of our toasties and café menu. This person ensures ingredients are sliced, portioned, and prepared to TUCKSHOP standards, maintains a clean and organized prep area, and works closely with the sandwich and FOH teams to keep service running smoothly. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced environments, consistency, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily ingredients for toasties, including slicing, portioning, labeling, and organizing items.
• Prepare Toastie fresh that morning
• Follow TUCKSHOP recipes and prep lists to maintain accurate par levels.
• Maintain product quality and food safety standards at all times.
• Operate equipment such as knives, slicers, and panini prep tools safely and correctly.
• Keep prep station, fridges, and storage areas clean, organized, and DOH-compliant.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries; rotate stock (FIFO).
• Communicate low stock or prep needs to the manager promptly.
• Support the team during rush periods by assembling toasties or assisting FOH as needed.
• Follow all DOH, sanitation, and workplace safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Previous café, prep, or kitchen experience. 
• Strong knife skills or willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, compact workspace.
• Reliable, punctual, and a team player.
• Positive attitude and willingness to jump in where needed.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate (FPC)

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time or full-time positions available.
• Competitive hourly wage ($18 - $23) Depending on experience.
