About the Role

NUMA is opening at The Grove in Shrewsbury, and we are hiring a General Manager to work directly with ownership to run daily operations, develop the team, and deliver a consistent and elevated guest experience. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on people, systems, and operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

  • Oversee all daily service operations

  • Maintain consistent service standards across all shifts

  • Manage guest flow, pacing, and floor awareness

  • Ensure all opening and closing procedures are followed

Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, and train FOH team members

  • Conduct ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action when needed

  • Build weekly schedules aligned with labor targets

  • Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate service priorities

Guest Experience

  • Uphold NUMA’s hospitality standards at all times

  • Resolve guest issues calmly and professionally

  • Build relationships with repeat guests and the local community

Financial & Administrative

  • Monitor sales, labor, and operating costs

  • Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships

  • Track comps, voids, and operational KPIs

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

Collaboration with Ownership

  • Work directly with owners on goals, operations, and strategic initiatives

  • Support menu rollouts, training programs, and service improvements

  • Provide operational feedback and identify areas for growth

Qualifications
  • 3–5 years as a GM or AGM in a full-service restaurant

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Experience with scheduling, cost controls, and inventory

  • Ability to manage service under pressure with consistency

  • Knowledge of hospitality best practices and guest engagement

Compensation
  • Salary range: $85,000–$100,000 based on experience

NUMA Modern Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar is an upcoming full-service restaurant opening at The Grove in Shrewsbury, NJ. The concept is inspired by the coastal regions of the Mediterranean, pulling from the flavors and traditions of Italy, Spain, Southern France, Greece, Turkey, and the Middle East. Our goal is to create a restaurant that feels warm, contemporary, and rooted in real culinary identity while delivering high-quality food and thoughtful hospitality.

NUMA will feature an open dining room, two full bars, a semi-outdoor seating area, and a menu built around fresh produce, seafood, grilled elements, bold spices, and bright Mediterranean flavors. We want the experience to feel inviting and energetic, with a focus on execution, consistency, and clean presentation.

The restaurant is being developed by a group of seasoned restaurateurs who are also local to the area. We’re approaching this project with high standards, strong systems, and a focus on building a team-oriented culture. We value leadership, accountability, communication, and a genuine passion for hospitality. The goal is to create a space where guests feel taken care of and where the team is supported, trained, and empowered to deliver their best work.
