Job Details

The Purple Pig Oakbrook is seeking prep, pastry, and line cooks for our opening team that want to gain knowledge and experience in a fast-paced, creative atmosphere! Under new leadership, we are searching for hard-working individuals with a great attitude and who are responsible for the daily preparation of all food items that are served. A position as a Prep or Line Cook at The Purple Pig offers you a fantastic opportunity to learn from - and work with - our Executive Chef and their talented kitchen team, with the opportunity for fantastic benefits, income and growth.

Our new Locations address is - 
15 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook, IL 60523


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Skills


-Set up station according to restaurant guidelines

-Prepare all food items for the daily menu in a sanitary and timely manner

-Follow recipes, portion controls, and food presentation specifications as set by the Executive

Chef

-Restock items as needed throughout shift

-Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills

-Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all

storage areas

-Ability to work well with the team with a positive and flexible attitude

-May perform other duties, as assigned, such as assisting in putting orders away, etc

-Must be able to follow and complete prep lists 

-Must have experience maintaining food cost goals by showing awareness of station par levels, food rotation, proper labeling, and waste management.


Education and/or Experience:


-Culinary degree preferred, but not required

-Previous prep and/or line cook experience in a high-volume, systems-based, scratch kitchen restaurant setting

-Must have open availability including AM, late nights, weekends, & holidays

-Must have ANSI-accredited Servsafe Food Handler Certification upon hiring

-Live fire, pasta, and/or pizza cooking experience is a plus but not required



Full-time and part-time available


Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($19.00 - $22.00)

Our menu is all about seasonality too, presenting vegetarian dishes like Roasted Squash and Salt-Roasted Beets in the winter and the juiciest, sweetest tomato salads in the summer. For those who crave flavors from the sea, all through the menu, fresh seafood takes on a strong supporting role. We also offer a wide variety of creamy, soft and hard cheeses, in addition to many kinds of charcuterie and well-chosen wines by the glass or bottle in every price range. House made desserts, gelato and more bestow the finishing touch after dinner. After dinner specialty drinks, wines and spirits are also available after the meal, a concert or a show. Service is attentive, polite and helpful - giving our guests the feeling of being invited into our home.
