Position Summary:
As the Bartender at Punch House, you will be part of a passionate and creative bar team known for its storied cocktail program located in the basement of Thalia Hall. Punch House is a welcoming, fun-loving space where neighborhood regulars and showgoers alike can feel at home. You will be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while maintaining the high standards of service Punch House is known for. Your ideas and creativity will help shape how the bar evolves and how we engage with our guests and the community.
Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work 3–4 bar shifts per week.
- Maintain a professional and positive presence behind the bar.
- Execute complete and efficient closing duties when assigned.
- Participate in the execution of house drink recipes and contribute to creative development.
- Engage with the Chicago bar community and keep up with the latest drink trends.
- Suggest menu ideas and assist with prep and juicing.
- Take direction and demonstrate a desire to continuously improve bartending skills.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and follow all health and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with barbacks and management to maintain smooth operations.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the bar area, including bar top and back-of-house spaces.
About You:
- Minimum of 1 year of full-service restaurant experience and 1 year of bartending experience.
- Strong knowledge of spirits and craft cocktails.
- Genuine interest in cocktail history and creativity.
- Effective communication skills with guests and coworkers.
- Comfortable working late hours in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Professional, friendly, and engaging demeanor.
- Current BASSET or ability to obtain prior to start.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs using proper technique, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Position Details
- Job Type: Part-time, Hourly
- Compensation: $13 per hour + tips
