The Beverage Prep position plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in supporting the bar team by preparing the essential ingredients and products needed to execute a high-caliber, craft beverage program. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, speed, organization and a commitment to excellence in prep execution. Working closely with the Head Bartender and Bar Manager, this individual ensures mise en place is completed to exact specifications to maintain consistency, efficiency and elevated guest experiences. A beverage prep individual must uphold the standards of excellence that define JKS, professional etiquette and compliance with all health and labor regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and batch house-made drinks, syrups, shrubs, tinctures, cordials and infusions according to bar recipes and volume needs.
- Freshly juice citrus and other ingredients.
- Wash, peel, cut and portion garnishes for service, ensuring uniformity and freshness.
- Label, date, and store all prepped items following DOH standards.
- Restock and organize the bar’s prep refrigerators, dry goods, garnish stations and ice wells prior to service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all prep equipment and prep spaces.
- Break down and clean juicing and batching equipment daily ensuring its return to proper storage area.
- Assist in batching cocktails or mixers for service, tastings or special events.
- Maintain inventory par levels of prep ingredients and communicate any shortages to the Head Bartender/Bar Manager.
- Follow all food safety protocols and regulations under NYC DOH and OSHA.
- Ensure all tools and containers are properly sanitized and labelled.
- Maintain allergen separation practices and ingredient integrity.
- Complete relevant checklists and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and quality in service delivery.

- Minimum (1) years in similar position
- Good time-management and teamwork skills
- Pride in appearance.
- Proactive in learning about food, beverage and wine.
- Warm and professional in communicating with guests.
- Constantly strive to improve personal and professional development.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
