Scratchboard Kitchen in downtown Arlington Heights is hiring experienced a PM Line Cook to join our professional, chef-led kitchen. We’re looking for cooks with strong skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating thoughtful, seasonal dishes made from quality ingredients. Some weekend morning hours available,

Our kitchen is built on consistency, communication, and respect. We value cooks who take pride in their work, stay organized, and support the team while helping create a menu that flows naturally from one course to the next.

Responsibilities

  • Execute dinner service with accuracy, urgency, and care

  • Keep your station clean, organized, and fully stocked

  • Complete prep efficiently and maintain par levels

  • Help with expediting and keep service running smoothly

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards

  • Communicate clearly and work as part of a respectful team

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional kitchen experience

  • Strong prep and line skills

  • Comfortable managing inventory and pars

  • Calm, focused, and reliable under pressure

  • Team-oriented and dependable

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long shifts

The menu is conceptualized by a Michelin trained chef who takes fine dining standards and applies them to a casual setting, ensuring high quality and standards. Scratchboard Kitchen is an intimate restaurant seating about 70 guests that opened at the start of the pandemic in April 2020. The restaurant launched with a focus on brunch using local, seasonal ingredients and is now expanding to offer dinner services 3x/week to highlight Executive Chef Grace Goudie's culinary expertise. She worked under Chef Thomas Keller at Ad Hoc and The French Laundry and is bringing elevated dining to the Chicago suburbs.
